Horizontal and vertical
agreements
In competition law, it is possible to
get an exemption for agreements that even though
restrict competition provide other benefits in terms
of increased productivity or consumer welfare. These
agreements need however to obtain an individual
exemption from competition authorities. An application
to obtain the required exemption has to incorporate
information about the expected economic benefits of
the said agreement. In addition, economic analysis can
be used to determine the scope and economic impact of
the actual restriction of competition. |
